Networking is a good career tool. In networking you can meet different kinds of people who are from different fields. They tell you the stories about succeeding. They teach you how to catch every chance. So networking plays an important role in your career life.Last Friday, I was invited to attend to the ALPFA Annual Closing Ceremony which was held in world financial center. They also invited the company’s campus recruiter and staffs to this ceremony. This was a direct way to learn more about the company and its culture. It provided more opportunities to meet the internal staffs. The campus recruiter gave a speech, he shared his story with us. When he was a staff in the NY company, he wanted to transfer to marketing department, because he was so interested in marketing. One day when he knew the marketing director would visit his department, so he caught this chance and recommend himself. His words deeply affected the director. And then he had an interview. No doubt his performance was so excellent that made him pass the interview and promote to marketing manager. He used his example to proof that impossible was nothing. It depended on how much effort you made.I think if you always prepare well, you will more close to success. Through networking you will meet many people and learn their philosopher about the job, you can get their business cards and communicate with them all the time. Networking creates chance and makes you succeed in the future.

What is happiness? Happiness is an emotional that reflects a good feeling. We have happiness all the time. We not only can make happiness but also can get happiness from people around us. It is from our friends and from our family. For example, I think friendship is a kind of happiness. Last Saturday, I was invited by my ESL classmate to have a dinner at her home. When I arrived at there, I found all my other ESL classmates were all there. I felt like to join in an international family. Some were China, some were from Taiwan, some were from Vietnam, some were from South Africa and some were from Albania. You can image how it was wonderful! Different people have different culture and language, sitting together and having a dinner. It was a great and unforgettable experience. They cooked lots of Chinese food. Another classmate also brought a big cake, because that day was the birthday of out little girl-Ms xiao jing, we were singing and dancing. Every person looked so happy at that time. Another happiness example, I got an e-mail from my best friend. After she finished her master education, she married with a handsome boy. I am so happy because she find a true love in her life. She showed me her wedding photos which were so beautiful. I think she is the happiest person in the world. So happiness is often associated with the presence of favorable circumstances such as a friendly life and a loving marriage.

Yoga-My favorite Sport

Hi, It is time to relax! Every week we have a busy schedule studying,preparing the homework all the time,but sometimes we need to have sport and relax our body. It is good for our healthy.So I introduce my favorite sport-hot yoga.I suppose you all know yoga,yoga is originally from India,but now it is so popular in the world.Yoga is not about how flexible you are, but about strengthening your body and spine in all directions.Yoga has many benefits.It can encourage weight reduction , it reduces stress ,helps in injury recovery , slows down the aging process and relaxes the body and mind.If you go to the gym office,you will have a lot of muscle.Yoga just relax your body.Yoga is another soft exercise.It offers the opportunity to bravely and compassionately face our limitations in order to realize our full potential. It can lead us to greater peace within ourselves. Furthermore for the hot yoga,you can practice in a heated room,sweating quite a bit,the stress and fat will be reduced through sweating.After finishing,you will feel so relax and will have taken out many impurities. In yoga class you not only see the female students but also male students who have strong muscles,it seems that they all give up gym and change over to this popular sport. So if you are looking for a new sport, I suggest you try yoga.It is a wonderful experience.when you try it,you will understand why it is myfavorite choice!

It is so difficult to find a job on campus. When I first come to this university,I was told to go to human resource department to register, and then I went through the campus website to check the available positions regularly. First,I thought this was easy,but after that I found that was harder than I thought. every time I went to human resource department to ask the staff whether there were any available positions open to our regular students,the answer was "no".On the contrary, there were many positions open to work-study students,yet it seemed that not many work-study students apply for these campus jobs,the amount of campus job availoble for work study students and regular students is not balanced.I do not know why they close the door to international students. International student are new to this place and culture.We have to learn everything such as the native language,native culture and native people. We not only learn these things through ESL ,but also throungh their real world working environment.So a campus job is the best way to learn American working style and culture. How can you believe only one or two hours class can let us speak a new language.But in a campus job,we have many opportunities to deal with American co-workers,learning their native style and culture,that is another good experience. It shows the equality in this great country. The school admit us to learn American knowledge,but why not give us more opportunity to learn their native culture through campus job.Sometimes I feel so frustration because I have looked for the job for one year but still find nothing. I want to complain this unequal policy. Why not transfer some work-study jobs to regular student, and change this rude policy.I suppose this is to bad ,and it will leave bad impress to international students. I hope this school can reconsider this policy and give more attention to international students in the future!

Big East Career Fair

Last Friday I went to a Big East Career Fair which was held in Madison Square Garden.It was the first time that I attended a career fair in America, and it was a good experience to feel the difference between the US and China.
On that day,I was dressed in business coat to attend this job fair. There were more than 100 companies there.Each company had its own desk, which showed companies' name and opening positions on the poster. Two or three professional staffs were sitting or standing,they are introducing their companies and answering questions about the company and positions to our students.Also I found the most interesting thing.Each company placed their companies' own products on the desk,such as bags,pens,cups and so on.All of them were marked with the company's name.I think this is a good selling skill.You will not only remember the company through its staff but also remember the company by these interesting products.This is so different than in China.The job market is so limited this year.Many graduating students came to this job fair to look for a job.It seemed that job demand was greater than job availiability,so jobs were too competitive to apply for.Anyway,it was a good experience to attend this job fair in the US. At the same time I can learn many things and know how to prepare myself well when I am looking for a job in the future.

One week ago, it snowed in NY,Soon the whole city became a white world,everywhere was covered by snow.And the temperature was so low,the wind was blowing strongly. The sidewalk was so slippery,I slipped and fell on the ground. I had thought snow was so interesting and beautiful before,but now I felt it was so troubling and inconvenient for me,althoung I was so excited to see the snow for the first time. After that you must guess I come from the south area.It is right.I come from south of China,and it seems there is no winter season there because the temperature is so high,trees are green the whole year and have lots of flowers,so my city is also called flower city.There is no snow but most of the time it rains.I think the area is like California:hot weather,sunshine,beach and green trees.I really like such a warm place.In New York,it is still so cold now,I can not go anywhere freely and have to wear a lot of clothes.Because of this cold weather,everyone looks so arrogant and not easy going.It is a cool city and cool person,hence I think I like california, people smile at me and say hello to me. Anyway,sometimes I have to adjust to this place,maybe it is not so bad as I thought.

Happy Lunar New Year

At the end of this week, we will have a traditional Chinese spring festival we call Lunar New Year.During this time,all family members who live or work far away from home will come back to celebrate this special day. On Lunar New Year's Eve,all family members stay at home to have a special dinner, which is well prepared by the parents.At the same time,the couples will hand out the red packages which we call lucky money to elders and children.This means they bring the luck to us and wish that we can make much money in the coming year. I really like this. After finishing dinner,the elders will stay at home to watch the spring fesitival show,but the youth like to go to flower market because it is so interesting. There are many beautiful flowers in the market.If someone wants to find their match in the new year,they will buy flowers to place in the home,they wish they will find a match soon.After that,we come back home and stay the whole night.The next day,which we call 'open year" which means the real new year,we will go to friends' and relatives' to celebrate this holiday,staying togeter and talking about their jobs and other things.Lunar New Year is a very interesting holiday,and I really like it.I hope everone will like this holiday!
